Animation is the creation of a film, flip-book, or other media using a sequence of images or models. In each frame the image or model is shifted slightly to create the effect of gradual movement. When the images are viewed rapidly in succession the drawings appear to move. This process is nearly identical now to its earliest days.
Animation history and people
There are a few major types of animation.
- Traditional Animation employs the use of successive cels or images that create the effect of movement.
- Stop Motion Animation utilizes models, cutouts, puppets, and the like to create a scene where an image is taken, the scene is physically altered, and another image taken.
- Computer Animation applies technology to the previous two categories and integrates the methods of traditional cel animation, and stop motion models with computer technology.
