Types of Antiques

There are a number of different types of antiques. Anything from paper products, to small and large appliances, to furniture, even vehicles can be considered antiques. To be defined as an antique, typically the item would have to be older than 100 years. This means that anything from the early 1900’s or earlier could potentially be an antique.

The main types of antiques

Paper Product Antiques – Many collectible paper products like posters, photographs, currency, maps, stamps, and trading cards are collected, bought, and sold as types of antiques.

Small and Large Appliances – Non moving items are not the only antiques, small and large appliances can fall in the category types of antiques as well. For example, phonographs, washing machines, clocks, radios, kitchenware, and sewing machines are typically traded as antique.

Antique Furniture – By far one of the most widely recognized and traded type of antique is furniture. Wardrobes, dressers, bureaus, tables, chairs, and the like are often bought and sold as antiques. Many buy these to furnish their home with a Victorian or elegant look. Sometimes, this type of furniture fits with a rustic home décor.

Antique Vehicles – Quite often motorized vehicles are bought and sold as a type of antique. Autos from the beginning of the motor car, to famous vehicles, to short production run autos are often collected, bought, and sold as antiques. Additionally, old equipment like trucks and tractors are traded in this category as well. Some of these vehicles are for collections, some for restoration, and even some for day to day use.
