Few sales people, if any, can be successful without business contact networking. This means leveraging your contacts to help create and enhance your sales. Networks can provide valuable information and referrals to get you in the door where you may normally be turned away.

Many try business contact networking at standard venues like trade shows and networking gatherings. These rarely if ever play host to the type of contact that can make a major decision or get you in the door with a decision maker. As opposed to searching these common meeting places, utilize your existing business contacts. Probe these individuals for information and request referrals from satisfied clients. There is a wealth of information that remains untapped in your existing business.

Additionally, establish strategic alliances for business contact networking. This means entering partnerships on projects with other organizations or individuals that can support or complement your services. This will provide you with another network of individuals that may provide the referrals or information that you need.

Business contact networking is no small task, it has to be long term and deliberate to be fruitful.
